The creative journey
The creative journey has attuned mind and hands, transforming sentiment into action; it is the means by which the inner life is manifested and given tangible form.
The materials used in the work —wood, stone and bronze— reflect the beauty of diversity, a jigsaw puzzle of people, projects and hopes aspiring to project themselves into the future with renewed vigour.
Different technologies and techniques have been used to make the sculpture, with the cooperation of true artisans of technology.
Wood
Wood has always played a central role in Basque life. Traditionally, it was used to build ships and farmhouses and to make the txalaparta, a simple means of communication across mountain valleys.
It is one of the most important materials in our development as a society. Our forests have been a constant source of life and development. Over the centuries, this practical bond has developed into something more profound and emotional, a token of our identity.

Stone
Limestone is an iconic local material. Here it is used to infuse the work with identity and tradition. This noble material conveys strength, protection and stability. As a synonym of life, stone celebrates collectivity, preserving in its rich veins the memory and essence of the past.

Metal
Metalworking is one of the most important industrial traditions of the Basque Country. It combines intuition and skill, two factors that were crucial to the creation of the first cooperative company, Talleres Ulgor, in 1956.
Every hammer blow and every cast piece reflects the innovative and collaborative spirit underpinning the birth of a new economic and social model.
This figure, depicting a printed circuit, stands for the human factor and technological research, supported by Mondragon University and Ikerlan —two pillars that have been essential for the Mondragon Experience's cohesiveness and strength. It is made of precision-cast bronze, symbolising durability, resistance, permanence and a sense of history. The patina adds that elegant beauty that the passage of time brings to even the humblest of objects.
